Dhaka Division dominate on day-1
Dhaka Metropolis have had an unpleasant campaign on the first day of the fifth round in their Tier 2 clash against Dhaka Division.
Winning the toss, Dhaka Division chose to field first. Salauddin Sakil and Sumon Khan ripped apart the opponent’s batting lineup as Dhaka Metro declared their innings at 59/8.
Mohammad Ashraful played the highest individual innings for Dhaka Metro, with 14 runs to his name. Only two other batters from Dhaka Metro managed to enter the double-figures.
Sakil bagged a four-for and Sumon took three wickets for Dhaka Division while Mosharraf Hossain also got a wicket.
Dhaka Division finished the first day with a 108-run lead over Dhaka Metro after opening batsman Rony Talukder’s 89-run innings powered them to post 167 runs for three wickets on day-1.
Another opener for Dhaka Division, Raqibul Hasan, scored only 9 runs. Saif Hassan made 49 runs and supported Rony well by stitching together a 120-run stand.
Shuvagoto Hom and Taibur Rahman will resume the innings for Dhaka Division on day-2.
Qazi Onik has so far picked up two wickets for Dhaka Metro while Arafat Sunny also took one scalp.
Another Tier 2 clash between Sylhet Division and Chittagong Division saw the first day’s play getting called off due to rain.
