Nidahas Trophy 2018
Chandika Hathurusingha opens up about Bangladesh defeat
Despite scoring over 200 runs against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka couldn’t manage to come out victorious against the Tigers. A brilliant 72 not-out from Mushfiqur Rahim and a solid start from Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal gave Bangladesh the advantage from the word go.
Sri Lanka’s new boss Chandika Hathurusingha, meanwhile, believes that Bangladesh kept the home side under pressure. He also praised the batting of the Tigers while mentioning that his bowlers didn’t do as well as he had hoped.
"The game against Bangladesh put us under pressure a little bit. You don't lose many games after scoring 214 runs. They put our bowlers under pressure. I don't think we bowled well, we need to accept that. Then again saying that all six bowlers or five bowlers don't go for 10 runs an over many times in your career. At the same time, we have to give credit to Bangladesh for the way they batted."
Shakib Al Hasan is going to take part in the next game against Sri Lanka as it is being reported that he has completely recuperated from the finger injury that was inflicted upon him in the final of the tri-nation series against Sri Lanka.
And Hathurusingha believes that the presence of the best all-rounder in the world will help Bangladesh.
"I think it's an advantage to them because he will enable them to play different combinations, whether it's an additional bowler or batsman. It's just fortunate for them that he recovered before such an important game."
